There are two kinds of kids. One answers “How was your day?” with a feature-length retelling of what went down at lunch. The other just says “fine,” and that’s that. All kids are natural storytellers though. Some just need to find the right outlet to express themselves. When words don’t quite get the job done, pair them with pictures and watch the magic happen. That’s comics in action!
We recently partnered with the Kansas City Public Library to celebrate the power of storytelling at their annual PopCon event. Over 300 kids attended and became junior cartoonists at our “Create Your Own Comic” station, where they learned…
- How to sketch and ink characters with the good boys of Lupin Leaps In
- Panel-to-panel pacing with Phoebe and Her Unicorn
- And how words and pictures combine to tell a story with Big Nate!
These activities and much, much more can be found in our ever-growing library of free resources. Whether you use these one-sheets in guided lessons or set them out for independent creation, we hope your kids have a blast sharing their stories.
